We understand that sharing your story is a vulnerable act of trust. For this reason, we’ve created a privacy policy to uplift transparency and accountability. The privacy policy describes the data we collect and share through storiesofconsent.com. At this time, ‘we’ and ‘us’ refers to the team at Stories of Consent. Information about this team can be found under the ‘About’ section of storiesofconsent.com.
Sharing your story is completely optional. If you choose to share your story through storiesofconsent.com’s online form, you consent to your story being posted on storiesofconsent.com, @storiesofconsent on Instagram, and related materials prepared by the Stories of Consent team. We do not collect any data beyond that which is submitted through the form, including age, country, and in related cases, state. We collect information regarding age and attested geographic location to better understand how consent looks across different populations. This helps us to build community and mutual understanding. We do not collect IP addresses or any information related to your browser history.
We have developed internal security protocols for protecting your story from alteration. All data is password protected and can not be accessed by anyone but us before being posted.
You maintain the right to request that your story is removed at any time, for any reason. After submitting a request to remove your story, we will ensure it is deleted from storiesofconsent.com and related social media content within two weeks of the form submission. Removing the story is contingent upon the user properly filling out the form, as absent the proper information, we are unable to locate the correct story to remove. If your story has been used in related Stories of Consent materials, and you request it be removed, we will work to the best of our ability with partner organizations to remove it from related materials.
We will not edit, alter, or in any way change the text of stories submitted through the online form. We will select an except of any story to share, but will always include the entirety of the submitted story alongside the excerpt. We maintain the right to decline to share any stories, provided they do not meet our criteria for anonymity or mission-specific content. Anonymity refers to any story that includes personally identifiable information, whether on behalf of the submitter or mentioned individuals. Mission-specific content refers to any story that fails to describe affirmative consent or is deemed to have a potentially negative impact on the health of our community. Stories that negatively impact the health of our community include but are not limited to hateful content and victim-blaming content. For example, a story may describe affirmative consent, while stating that it is not necessary for safe sex. This would fail to meet our guidelines, and therefore not be posted.
